Reading Lately April

I didn’t get much reading done this month, and I’m pretty bummed about it. I had every intention of focusing and finishing the bonus round for the reading challenge. I still plan to read all of the books there, so stay tuned for next month! And I know I keep talking about how stressful and crazy life has been and continues to be, but it totally takes away my motivation to read or do anything.

I also just found out about this awesome program that is an online book club. I’ll share more about it next month (after I’ve used it). But it seems pretty cool and it will give me another book to read each month!

Reading Lately

All the Light we Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Marie-Laure lives in Paris with her father, who has promised to always be there for her after she lost her eye-sight at the age of six. But their lives are drastically changed when Nazi’s invade France, forcing Marie-Laure and her father to flee to Saint-Malo. Unknown to Marie-Laure, her father is carrying a highly desired artifact from the museum in which he works. Meanwhile in Germany, Werner earns himself a spot at an elite Nazi academy after proving his talent with mechanics. After a while, he gets called to the action and goes off to war. Ultimately, Marie-Laure and Werner’s paths collide in Saint-Malo as the war is coming to an end.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was an interesting story. I wish some of the events and references were more factual/accurate, but the story was somewhat fantastical so it wasn’t a big deal. The story alternates to different characters perspectives every chapter, which is a little frustrating because it’s constantly leaving you with a cliffhanger. It makes the book intriguing, but I get frustrated with that. The book also switches time periods a few times which was confusing to me because I never remembered which year each part was taking place in. And the ending surprised me a little bit, I wasn’t a big fan of it. But it was still a lovely book to read.

Ugh I totally feel you on the textbooks! It’s so hard to get in fun/personal reading 🙁 Hopefully you’ll find some down time to relax and read!

I will definitely start using your hashtag more. Most of my Instagram features books (or fur babies), so expect to see more from me on ig.

I’ve been participating for over a year with another link-up recap of the books I’ve read. I’m in such a habit of listing them on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, I don’t know how I can work it to participate in this one too. 🙁 But, I’ll happily come read about all the book chatter!
