The new year means new year resolutions. I’m normally not a fan of making resolutions because I don’t want my to base my changes on the changing of the year. When people associate changes with the new year, people think they need a new year to get back on track. But I’ve recently had some realizations and found new focus and motivation that I want to start immediately, and the new year is the perfect time to start working on the new and improved me, as cliche as that sounds.
Friendships:
I have come to the realization that it’s time for me to say goodbye to some of my friendships. They are toxic relationships and are just more work than they’re worth. I’m the only one making an effort to hang out or talk. And that just isn’t my idea of a real friendship. People should never feel down about themselves because they don’t feel like a valued friend. Oddly enough, these “friends” are also the ones who don’t really support my blog, my Youtube channel, or my goals in life. I’ve never cared if we had different goals, but if someone doesn’t support my path then I don’t need them around. So it’s time to say goodbye to these toxic friendships that don’t benefit me or my well being. I’m going to surround myself with positive energy and supportive people.
Health:
I’m making my health a priority this year and taking it to another level. I always lose focus with my fitness or half ass commit myself to working out. But I’m going to focus on eating healthier and working out! I want to be healthy, strong, and fit. When I went to New York for Christmas, my brother made amazing home cooked meals. I love cooking but never knew what to make. So I’m going to try and find recipes to make healthy and delicious home cooked meals. If you have any recipes, feel free to send them my way! I’m also giving up drinking. It always leaves me feeling bloated, unmotivated, and lazy. Another change I want to make is to try meal prepping. It’s really helpful when it comes to staying on track with your health and fitness, and I can use all the help I can get.
Work:
I wouldn’t call it a change of heart, but I’ve found a new focus and motivation for the future. I’m going to put a lot of effort into my blog, my Youtube channel, and my schoolwork. I’m hoping for straight A’s until I graduate. I recently rebranded my blog to make it more professional and I realized the direction I want to take it.
Travel:
I want to move, it’s been great here in Northern California but it’s time for a change. It’s just not affordable for the quality and I’ll never be able to afford a nice house here. So I’m going to do some traveling this year to explore some potential places to move. I also have some other travel plans for this year. I’ll be going back to Fairbanks, Alaska to visit one of my best friends and probably headed back to visit family in New York!
Reading:
Last year, I set a goal to read 100 books on my Goodreads. I was unsuccessful. Life got distracting and prevented me from finishing my goal. I’ve set the same goal for myself this year and I’m determined to achieve it. I’m hoping that you join me in Erin’s Book Challenges and my Reading Lately linkups!
