Can you believe it’s already almost December? It’s time to start thinking about your gifts for the holiday season. This weekend is one of the most popular times to buy gifts with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. So now is the time to start thinking about your holiday shopping. Take advantage of the best deals of the year!
But what do you get someone who’s more into experiences than physical gifts? It’s hard to find a gift for someone to take traveling with them or want to keep as they move around. If they’re an expat or living a nomadic lifestyle, they might live a more minimalist lifestyle so they don’t have as much stuff to take with them! So I’ve put together a list of gift ideas for people who love exploring and going on adventures. Or if you’re just looking for some gifts for yourself.
Plane tickets
Obviously this is not a feasible option for everyone, but I bet it will be your wanderlusts’ favorite gift! For someone who is always traveling and prefers experiences to things, the best gift you can give them is the means to get there.
Camera
There are so many great camera options to choose from. I love my camera; it’s a bit more expensive for a gift but it’s an amazing camera. There is a lot of control over different features, it takes great video, and the LCD screen flips around so you can see the picture from the front. The Canon G7X camera is a great option because it’s affordable, lightweight, and takes great pictures. It’s a popular choice among Youtubers for vlogging. The Sony mirrorless cameras are lightweight but it offers more control over settings than your standard point-and-shoot camera. And you can change the lenses on the mirrorless cameras. They make for great travel cameras because they are light and still take great photos.
Custom luggage tag
A small, but great, personal gift for someone who travels frequently is a custom luggage tag. There are so many cute options, but I personally love these ones and these ones and this one!
Photography Accessories
A tripod and a wireless remote are great gifts for someone who loves taking pictures of their travels. It’s hard to take pictures of yourself when traveling alone, so a tripod and a wireless remote come in handy. I have this tripod and I love it! It’s very sturdy and folds down so it’s easier to travel with! This is the one I have, because this wireless remote doesn’t say it’s compatible with my camera, but it has great reviews!
AirBNB gift card
Another great option to helping someone afford their travels is getting them a gift card for AirBNB. AirBNB’s are a popular option for travelers because they’re often more affordable than hotels.
Photography class
A great option for someone who is really looking to improve their photography knowledge or skills. While I think the best way to improve your skills is to go out and practice, it really helps to have some knowledge of what everything is and how it works. Fstoppers has a ton of great courses to choose from!
Personalized Passport Cover
These are great gift ideas and very useful in keeping your passport protected. These ones and these ones are both super cute and have different options for customization!
Photo Map
I love these custom photo maps so you can sharing your photos on a map. It’s fun and a great way to show off your travels in your home. These scratch off maps are also a great way to track your travels.
Backpack
I love taking pictures when I travel (have you seen my posts from San Diego, Alaska, and Testarossa Winery). So I’m always carrying my camera with me. So having a backpack that doesn’t look like a camera bag is great. With a bag that says Canon or Nikon on it, you’re just announcing to everyone that you have valuable stuff worth stealing. I love this bag because it’s beautifully made, doesn’t look like a camera bag, and it’s not so easily accessible that people can quickly open it and grab something. This one is a more affordable option, but I’m not as keen on the side access areas.
Rosetta Stone
Learning a new language is great for a resume builder and for traveling. Give them the opportunity to learn the language of a place they really want to visit or that they’re planning to visit. I love taking the language courses with Rosetta Stone.
Nix play Photo Frame
The NixPlay photo frame is a great gift idea for someone constantly on the go. It doesn’t take up a lot of space so it’s perfect for someone traveling or living a nomadic lifestyle. They can set up slideshows through an app on their phone. It’s a convenient way to keep our loved ones close when we’re away.
Travel Blog Course
If they’re interested in starting a travel blog, or even if they already have a blog, get them a membership to the Travel Blog Success program. You get life access, two courses in the program, and access to webinars and other resources. There are a variety of other courses in the program that you can buy later if you find yourself in need of more help. And some of my favorite travel bloggers are members of the program! Get lifetime access and purchase any additional courses for 40% today through Monday!
Travel Kit
A very personal gift to give is a personal travel kit. Make them a little kit to bring with them in their carry-on when they travel. Obviously you can really personalize this with items you know they love or always forget. For me, I always forget to pack a toothbrush or toothpaste. But an eye mask for the plane, headphones or noise blocking earbuds, or a small first aid kit are great ideas. I also like to bring makeup removing wipes, an eye refreshing kit, and hydrating sheet masks on the plane to keep my skin hydrated and fresh.
